Founded in 2019 in the heart of Portland, Oregon, Friendly Monster Press is an independent publishing house dedicated to local and far-flung voices in poetry and short fiction. We believe that art should be accessible, and we're committed to making sure our books reach the readers who need them.

Grief Stick

Originally released on Picture Frame Press in two limited runs of 100 copies each, Grief Stick is a short collection of poetry revolving around sudden and profound loss. The upcoming edition of Grief Stick on Friendly Monster Press will be published alongside a greater collection of Alex's poems. We are so excited to share more from Alex's strong and unique voice.

Poetry Collections
- • Collections of 40-80 pages
- • Submit between 5-7 sample poems
- • Previously published individual poems welcome
Short Fiction
- • Collections of 150-250 pages
- • Submit one complete story
- • Speculative fiction strongly encouraged
