DOING THINGS IN

PORTLAND, OREGON

    OUT NOW!

We’ve moved back the release dates for Autumn Bettinger’s Belladonna and Erin Clarke’s Absolutely Always to March of 2026.
The collaborative process with both those authors (both of whom I worked with at Picture Frame Press) has been so smooth and fun so far. What’s encouraging about making a book, is that much like putting together a puzzle, it begins to look more and more like itself the more work you put in. Those books will be available for preorder before you know it.

Matt Riggle (whose bands’ songs have been in rotation on the playlist of my life for the last 30 years) and I are working together to put out a collection of his lyrics as poetry, preceded by a conversation between the two of us, coming out in Summer 2026.

You can check out covers and a blurb on each here

  • Art things are always happening. They usually don’t settle long enough to be organized. Not like a book, a book is thing that can sit on a table or stand on a shelf. Still, I hear-tell of an ART page on this very website.

  • SCOTT CANNON
    with ADAM OYSTER-SANDS
Saturday January 31st, Bold Coffee and Books, 7PM-8PM

I’ll be reading and giving a presentation in support of my new book. I’ll also have limited edition prints available free with any Bold Books book purchase during the event.
Adam has a book of poetry coming out later this year, and he also had one come out in 2024. He’s gonna read whatever he feels like.

Doing a thing you think would be improved with our presence? That qualifies as good news, and you can email me at scottcannonpdx@gmail.com

  • There’s new colors of both the ceramic mugs and caps that say “Read Portland Authors”

That new mint mug is sweet!

    Get eem.

  • MY BOOK CAME OUT TODAY

Been working on a Neighbor’s shed the past couple days. The job was figuratively up my alley and literally down the block from my house. Water intrusion is my natural enemy, but I love moss, go figure.

Also, Autumn Bettinger‘s out there killing it, y’all. She just finished 2nd at NYC midnight (the OG writing competition). She’s gonna need a bigger trophy case pretty soon

    Umm what else…?

Fuck fascism. Everywhere you see people believing some hateful nonsense (or even some kinds of regular nonsense), say something. Make hate spikey to those who it goes down too easy for. People respond to social pressure. If you decide to stand up for what’s right, it will be hard on you for a while but maybe you’ll make the world a little better place in the end.

I think that’s it for now

    Previously on thoughts…

I have so much to post, but I won’t post too much right now. I’m totally enjoying collaborating with Erin and Autumn on their upcoming books.Their works are both so strong that I’m just trying not to mess it up.

I’m counting down the days until my book comes out like a kid knows how many days it is until Christmas. It’s now 7 days until my book comes out by the way. Event deets to be announced soon.

I finally sent an email to my email list. Maybe sign up for that? The people closest to me (and a reasonable part of myself) are imploring me to get social media. I know they’re right in a way because I see the traffic spike when they post for me. Then, when the Insta-reel (cool jargon to seem relatable) disappears, my traffic here plummets. I don’t want to get social media though. I’ll resist a little longer. I don’t need people to visit my website anymore often than to check out our books, my thoughts I guess, and my quality mug selection (Y’all, it’s a good mug). I don’t want any more of your attention than you want to give me.

Hypothetically, if I did want to see you here more often here (I can’t see you I promise), one idea Leana had was to post my one panel comics I make here. I make a lot of them. So maybe that will happen… They make me giggle anyway.

Not spell checked. Come back often for new free-range spelling errors!
